How to Build the DRAGON QUEST LIME SLIME Model Kit

A step-by-step walkthrough for the DRAGON QUEST LIME SLIME model kit, from checking the runners to posing the finished slime on its Dungeon Base. No glue required.

Quick answer

The LIME SLIME kit is a snap-fit plastic model, so you can assemble it with no glue and no painting. Work on a tray, clip parts from the runners with nippers, test-fit each piece before pressing it fully home, and save the interchangeable bottom and the 3mm hole in the base for last so you can decide how you want to display it.

What you actually need before you start

You do not need a full hobby bench for this build. A pair of hobby nippers, a small tray or shallow box to catch dropped parts, and good overhead light cover most of it. A hobby knife or sanding stick is optional and only useful if you want to clean up the small nub marks left where parts meet the runner.

Skip the glue. The kit is designed to assemble without it, and adding cement to snap-fit parts can soften the plastic and make a joint harder to separate later if you want to change the pose or the base.

Read the runner layout before you cut anything

Lay the runners out and match the letters and numbers in the manual to the parts still attached to the frame. Beginners often clip every piece free first, then lose track of which part is which because the slime body pieces look similar at a glance. Cutting only the parts for the current step keeps the build readable.

Leave a little plastic on the part when you cut, then trim the nub flush. Cutting flush against the part in one squeeze can bite into the surface and leave a gouge that is much harder to fix than a small nub.

Assemble the body from the inside out

Build the core of the slime first, then add the outer shell pieces, following the manual's order rather than working from the outside in. Test-fit each connection with light pressure. If a peg will not seat, check the orientation before forcing it, because snap-fit joints that go in at the wrong angle can stress the plastic.

Once the body is together, press the seams with even thumb pressure until you feel the parts click into place. A partly seated seam is the most common reason a finished slime looks slightly lopsided.

Finish the face and details

Add the eyes and any small detail parts after the main body is closed up, so you are not handling the model by its most fragile pieces while pressing larger joints together. Keep small parts in the tray until the moment you install them.

This is also the point to decide whether you want to customize. The kit is designed so beginners and experienced builders can both enjoy it, which means you can leave it as-is or add your own paint and finishing work later.

Choose how to display it

The kit includes a Dungeon Base, and the Slime, She-Slime, and Lime Slime kits each include an interchangeable bottom. The model also has a 3mm hole in the bottom for additional display options. Decide whether you want the base, the alternate bottom, or a peg or stand through the 3mm hole before you press the final piece into place, because swapping later means pulling parts back apart.

If you plan to collect more than one slime, keep the bases and alternate bottoms in a labeled bag so you can mix and match without guessing which piece came from which kit.

Lime Slime build steps

  1. Set up your workspace: Clear a flat, well-lit surface and put down a tray or shallow box. Keep nippers within reach and leave the glue in the drawer. Checkpoint: if parts can roll off the table, your tray is too small.
  2. Sort and inspect the runners: Match runner letters to the manual and check that no parts arrived bent or short. Do not clip everything free at once. Mistake to avoid: cutting all parts loose first and then guessing which piece goes where.
  3. Clip parts for one step only: Cut the parts the manual calls for, leaving a small nub, then trim the nub flush with nippers or a hobby knife. Checkpoint: a clean, flat cut edge means you are ready to test-fit.
  4. Test-fit, then press to click: Dry-fit each joint at the correct angle before applying pressure. Seat the part until you feel it click, working from the inside of the body outward. Mistake to avoid: forcing a misaligned peg, which stresses the plastic.
  5. Close the body seams evenly: Run your thumb along the seam and press in small sections until the gap disappears all the way around. Checkpoint: a visible gap now will look worse once the model is on display.
  6. Add the face and small details: Install eyes and detail parts after the main body is solid, handling the model by the body rather than the small pieces. Mistake to avoid: squeezing the model by its most fragile parts while pressing joints.
  7. Pick your display setup: Choose the Dungeon Base, the interchangeable bottom, or a stand through the 3mm hole before pressing the final piece into place. Next step: store unused bases and bottoms in a labeled bag if you plan to collect more slimes.

Kit facts that shape the build

  • DRAGON QUEST Plastic Model Kit Series - LIME SLIME (Dungeon Base): The LIME SLIME kit is part of the DRAGON QUEST Plastic Model Kit Series, assembles without glue, and includes a 3mm hole in the bottom for extra display options plus an interchangeable bottom. You can build it with basic tools and change how it sits on the shelf without buying extra parts.
  • DRAGON QUEST Plastic Model Kit Series - SHE-SLIME (Field Base): The SHE-SLIME kit uses the same easy-assemble, no-glue approach and also includes an interchangeable bottom and the 3mm display hole. If you enjoy the Lime Slime build, the She-Slime follows the same process, so your tools and technique carry over.
  • Arknights - Huggy Good Smile Kal'tsit Figure: The Huggy Good Smile Kal'tsit figure is a chibi figure with a magnet in the back of the head and arms that move up and down. It is a finished display piece rather than a kit, so it pairs with a completed slime without adding another build to your queue.
